I realized today that it’s been over a year now since I committed to writing every day and publishing a blog post every week. I just looked back, and this will be my 53rd blog post since I made that commitment. And even though I did miss posting one week, I’m not going to beat myself up about it, because other than my run streak (today was day 1,314 in a row that I ran at least a mile), I haven’t kept any new habit going as long as this one.
So, I’m excited to acknowledge that I’ve been writing every day for over a year! And even though I may not have been as strict with my writing streak as I am with my running streak (I may have fudged it a bit here and there by writing a little after midnight some days, or counting work emails or social media posts or catching up in my planner as part of my writing time occasionally), I’m proud that I’ve stuck with it for the most part. And it’s nice to have something (53 blog posts, six chapters of a novel, and several annotated bibliographies, among many other things), to show for it. And with that, I’m going to put this laptop away. I’ve written over ten pages of final research paper/bibliography/reflection paper in the last two days, and I’m just tired. I’m ready to flop over and sleep like my dog is currently doing on the couch next to me (see photo above). But here’s to a year of writing! Maybe by this time next year I’ll have my novel finished!
